The 16 Pure Meji Odus
The Meji are the 16 pure Odu — each paired with itself, representing the undiluted essence of that Odu's power. They are the most sacred of all 256.
About the Odu Ifa Corpus
The Odu Ifa are the sacred signs of Yoruba divination, forming the complete corpus of the Ifa oracle system. There are 256 Odus: 16 principal Odus (Ogbe, Oyeku, Iwori, Odi, Irosun, Owonrin, Obara, Okanran, Ogunda, Osa, Ika, Oturupon, Otura, Irete, Ose and Ofun) and 240 combinations formed by pairing each with every other.
Each Odu contains multiple Ese (divination poems), the ASE (Ifa's spiritual pronouncement), EBO (prescribed sacrifice), and Akose (alchemical and herbal remedies). Browse by family: Ogbe, Oyeku, Iwori, Odi, Irosun, Owonrin, Obara, Okanran and more above.
