Lance Cpl. Benjamin Whetstone Schmidt, 24, of San Antonio, Texas, was a U.S. Marine with 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, California. He died on October 6, 2011, in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Private Danny Chen, 19, of New York City, died on October 3, 2011, at Combat Outpost Palace in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Petty Officer First Class Caleb Andrew Nelson, 26, of Omaha, Nebraska, was a U.S. Navy SEAL assigned to SEAL Team Ten. He was killed in a hostile incident in Qalat, Afghanistan, on October 1, 2011.

U.S. Army Specialist Adrian Glyn Mills, 23, of Newnan, Georgia, died in Kirkuk, Iraq, on September 29, 2011, while serving with the 272nd Military Police Company.

U.S. Army Specialist James Arlan Butz, 21, of Porter, Indiana, was killed in a hostile incident in Mirmandab, Afghanistan, on September 29, 2011.

Staff Sergeant Christopher Diaz, 27, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was a U.S. Marine killed in Helmand province, Afghanistan, on September 28, 2011.

Private First Class David Andrew Drake, 21, of Lumberton, Texas, was a U.S. Army engineer killed in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, on September 28, 2011.

U.S. Army Specialist Steven Edward Gutowski, 24, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, was killed in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, on September 28, 2011.

Capt. Ryan Kenneth Iannelli, 27, of Clarksboro, New Jersey, was a U.S. Marine Corps pilot killed in action in Helmand province, Afghanistan, on September 28, 2011.

First Lieutenant Ivan Derek Lechowich, 27, of Valrico, Florida, was killed in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, on September 28, 2011, while serving with the U.S. Army's 515th Engineer Company.

First Sergeant Billy Joe Siercks, 32, of Warsaw, Missouri, served as the senior enlisted advisor for Company F, 2nd Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, based at Fort Drum, New York. He died on September 28, 2011

Nicholas Adam Sprovtsoff, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, died on September 28, 2011, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

LCPL John Robert Wimpey Cagle, 19, from Tucker, GA, was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

U.S. Army Specialist Garrett Anthony Fant, 21, of American Canyon, California, died on September 26, 2011, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Specialist Francisco Javier Briseno Alvarez Jr., 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died on September 25, 2011, in Afghanistan's Laghman District.

1LT Andres Zermeno, an American soldier from San Antonio, TX, died on September 25, 2011, in Shakabad, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
