Watson, Franklin Namon

Lance Corporal Franklin Namon Watson was a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He served with Company D, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (2D CEB, II MEF FWD), 4th Marine Division, based in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Watson was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a conflict that began in October 2001. His service in the Helmand Province exposed him to the intense and volatile conditions that characterized this region of Afghanistan during the conflict.

On September 24, 2011, LCPL Watson lost his life as a result of hostile action in Helmand Province. The Department of Defense confirmed his death, marking a moment of profound loss for his family, friends, and fellow service members.

The conflict in Afghanistan, known as Operation Enduring Freedom, saw a significant presence of US and allied forces, aiming to dismantle terrorist organizations and stabilize the region. LCPL Watson's role in this effort underscores the sacrifice and commitment of military personnel.
