Lance Corporal John Robert Wimpey Cagle was born and raised in Tucker, Georgia. He was a determined young man who joined the United States Marine Corps, serving with distinction in the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Deployed as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, LCPL Cagle was stationed in Helmand Province, a region that saw significant conflict during the years of the campaign. As part of his unit, he was involved in operations aimed at stabilizing the area and countering insurgent activities.
