Their Story

First Lieutenant Andres Zermeno was a dedicated member of the United States Army, serving with Company E, 94th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Zermeno chose a path of military service, committing himself to the duties and responsibilities that came with his role.

On September 25, 2011, at the age of 26, Zermeno's life was tragically cut short in Shakabad, Afghanistan. His passing was recorded as a result of hostile actions during Operation Enduring Freedom, a conflict that began on October 7, 2001, following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The operation aimed to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power. Zermeno's death is a somber reminder of the conflict's toll on countless lives.
