U.S. Army Sergeant Steven Checo, 22, of the Bronx, New York, was killed in hostile action on December 21, 2002, in Salerno, Afghanistan.

Specialist Pedro Lazaro Pena-suarez, 35, of Miami, Florida, was a U.S. Army soldier serving with the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment. He died on November 7, 2002, in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Thomas Lewis Robinson, 38, of Kingston, Massachusetts, was killed in action on October 23, 2002, while serving with Operation Enduring Freedom.

Jerry Oreall Pope II, 35, was a U.S. Navy Ensign from Tallahassee, Florida, assigned to the Naval Medical Clinic in Quantico, Virginia. He was killed in Sana'a, Yemen, on October 17, 2002.

James Henry Ebbers was a 19-year-old U.S. Army Private from Tinley Park, Illinois. He was killed in action on October 14, 2002, at Camp Lemonier, Djibouti.

Corporal Antonio James Sledd, 20, of Tampa, Florida, was a U.S. Marine with the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based at Camp Pendleton, California. He died in a hostile incident at Camp Doha

Sgt. 1st Class Mark Wayne Jackson, 40, of Glennie, Michigan, was a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier. He died in a hostile incident in Zamboanga, Philippines, on October 2, 2002.

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ryan Dane Foraker, 31, of Logan, Ohio, died on September 24, 2002, at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Sgt. 1st Class Christopher James Speer, 28, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was a U.S. Army Special Operations soldier. He died on August 6, 2002, from wounds sustained in Afghanistan.

Technical Sergeant Sean Mitchell Corlew, 37, of Thousand Oaks, California, was a U.S. Air Force special operations airman. He was killed in action on June 12, 2002, in a helicopter crash approximately 35 miles east of Gardez, Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Anissa Ann Shero, 31, of Grafton, West Virginia, served in the U.S. Air Force's 15th Special Operations Squadron. She was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 12, 2002.

On June 12, 2002, the ARMY lost SFC Tycz, Peter Paul Ii of TONAWANDA, NY in ORGUN, AFGHANISTAN. He was 32.

SSG Vance, Gene Arden Jr, 38, a native of MORGANTOWN, WV, died serving in the National Guard, ARMY, SUPPORT COMPANY 2D BATTALION 19TH SPECIAL FORCES GROUP, KENOVA, WV 25530, during Operation Enduring Freedom on May 19, 2002. Cause: HOSTILE.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Katrina Renee Grady, 29, of Greenville, Mississippi, served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Port Royal. She died on April 18, 2002, in Bethesda, Maryland.
