Petty Officer Second Class Brian Keith Lundy Jr., 25, of Austin, Texas, was a U.S. Navy serviceman assigned to a Marine Corps unit. He was killed in a hostile incident in Marjah, Helmand province, Afghanistan, on September 9, 2011.

U.S. Army Private First Class Tony Joe Potter Jr., 20, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, died on September 9, 2011, in Zormat District, Afghanistan.

PFC Wood, Brett Everett, 19, a native of SPENCER, IN, died serving in the Active Duty, ARMY, COMPANY C, 1ST BATTALION, 5TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1ST SBCT, FORT WAINWRIGHT, AK, during Operation Enduring Freedom on September 9, 2011. Cause: HOSTILE.

U.S. Army Specialist Koran Pulido Contreras, 21, of Lawndale, California, died on September 8, 2011, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

U.S. Army Specialist Douglas Jay Jeffries Jr., 20, of Springville, California, was killed in a hostile incident in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on September 8, 2011.

U.S. Navy Reserve Commander James Kevin Crawford, 50, of Hamburg, New York, died on September 7, 2011, in Manama, Bahrain, while serving during Operation New Dawn.

U.S. Army Specialist Christophe J. Marquis, 40, of Tampa, Florida, died on September 4, 2011, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany from wounds sustained in Afghanistan.

Specialist Christopher John Scott, 21, of Tyrone, New York, was a U.S. Army military policeman serving with the 561st Military Police Company. He died on September 3, 2011, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Specialist Dennis James Jr., 21, of Deltona, Florida, was killed by hostile fire at Forward Operating Base Shank, Afghanistan, on August 31, 2011.
