Master Sergeant Charles Levan Price III was a 40-year-old soldier from Milam, Texas. He served with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Armor Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson, Colorado. According to military records, his service included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
On August 12, 2011, Price was killed in the Jaman area of Afghanistan. The U.S. Department of Defense listed the cause as hostile action. No further specifics regarding the incident were released in official casualty announcements.
