Their Story
Michael Christopher Roberts was a Specialist in the U.S. Army Military Police, serving with the 561st Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His service included deployments to the Philippines, the Horn of Africa, and, ultimately, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In the summer of 2011, Roberts was operating in Kandahar City, a major urban center in southern Afghanistan and a focal point of insurgent activity. The region saw frequent attacks on coalition and Afghan security forces as part of a broader Taliban campaign.
