David Seth Mitchell, a 30-year-old U.S. Marine Corps Captain from Loveland, Ohio, was killed in action on October 26, 2009, at Forward Operating Base Dwyer in Afghanistan.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michael Patrick Montgomery, 36, of Savannah, Georgia, was a U.S. Army helicopter pilot. He died on October 26, 2009, in Darreh-ye Bum, Afghanistan, when his MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed.
