Captain John Louis Hallett III, 30, of Dupont, California, was a U.S. Army officer serving with the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment. He was killed in a roadside bomb attack in Sha Wali Kot, Afghanistan, on August 25, 2009.

Cory J. Jenkins, a 30-year-old U.S. Army captain from Mesa, Arizona, was killed in action on August 25, 2009, in the Sha Wali Kot district of Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

SFC Ronald Wayne Sawyer, 38, of Trenton, Missouri, was a U.S. Army soldier serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Lewis, Washington.

At 24, PFC Williams, Dennis Michael of FEDERAL WAY, WA was serving with the ARMY, COMPANY A, 1ST BATTALION, 17TH INFANTRY, 5 SBCT, FORT LEWIS, WA, when he died in SHA WALI KOT, AFGHANISTAN on August 25, 2009. Cause: HOSTILE.
