Captain James Edward Chaffin III, 27, of West Columbia, South Carolina, was a U.S. Army field artillery officer. He was killed in action on April 1, 2014, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Cpl. Caleb Lane Erickson, 20, of Waseca, Minnesota, was a U.S. Marine killed in Helmand province, Afghanistan, on February 28, 2014.
