Edward Walter Brabazon, an American soldier from Philadelphia, PA, died on March 9, 2004, in Baghdad, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Their Story

Edward Walter Brabazon served as a Specialist in the United States Army. His unit, A Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Infantry Regiment, was based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. At 20 years old, Brabazon was among the many soldiers deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which commenced on March 19, 2003.

On March 9, 2004, Brabazon was killed in action in Baghdad, Iraq. This marked a significant loss for his family and the community in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he hailed from. His death was one of many during the conflict that lasted until August 2010.

Operation Iraqi Freedom, initiated by a U.S.-led coalition, aimed to dismantle weapons of mass destruction allegedly held by Iraq, a claim that was later intensely scrutinized. The operation deeply impacted both military personnel and Iraqi civilians.

The Defense Casualty Analysis System recorded Brabazon's death, reflecting the ongoing human cost of military engagements. Each life, including Brabazon's, represents the profound personal impact of global conflicts.
