Major Jay Thomas Aubin was a dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps. Born in Waterville, Maine, Aubin served with the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1), part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona.
His deployment to Iraq took place at the outset of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict initiated by a coalition led by the United States on March 19, 2003. The mission aimed to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein and eliminate alleged weapons of mass destruction.
