Their Story
Thomas Mullen Adams served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He was a member of 849 Squadron, A Flight, based at RNAS Culdrose in Helston, Cornwall, United Kingdom. Born in La Mesa, California, Adams was a reservist dedicated to serving his country.
On March 22, 2003, at the age of 27, Lt. Adams lost his life in the Northern Arabian Gulf, part of the Arabian Sea, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This conflict marked the beginning of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, which commenced on March 19, 2003.
Operation Iraqi Freedom aimed to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction and end Saddam Hussein's regime. The conflict eventually concluded in August 2010, having claimed the lives of 4,418 American service members, including Lt. Adams.
