Noah Lee Boye, a 21-year-old Marine from Grand Island, NE, died on April 13, 2004 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Their Story

Private Noah Lee Boye was born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. He served in the United States Marine Corps with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, California.

On April 13, 2004, Boye was killed in action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. His death occurred during a period of intense combat operations in the region, where coalition forces were engaged in efforts to stabilize the area amid rising insurgency.

The operation known as Operation Iraqi Freedom began in March 2003, aimed at toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. However, following the initial military victory, U.S. and coalition forces faced a robust insurgency.

Boye's death is one among many during a conflict that claimed numerous lives, both military and civilian. The Department of Defense confirmed his death as hostile, marking a somber moment for his family and fellow Marines.

Boye's service and sacrifice are remembered by those who knew him and by the community in Grand Island, reflecting the enduring impact of the conflict on individuals and families.
