John George Borbonus was a Specialist in the United States Army, serving with HHT, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. A native of Boise, Idaho, Borbonus was just 19 years old when he deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On April 12, 2007, Borbonus's life was tragically cut short in Baghdad, Iraq, in a conflict marked by intense violence and hostility. The Army recorded his death as caused by hostile actions, a somber reminder of the dangers faced by those in combat zones.
