Nicholas Henry Blodgett was a Private First Class in the United States Army, serving with Troop A, 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, part of the 1st Infantry Division based in Schweinfurt, Germany. Born in Wyoming, Michigan, Blodgett was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which began in March 2003.
On July 21, 2004, Blodgett lost his life in Abdalluyah, Iraq, a location marked by significant insurgent activity during the conflict. His unit was engaged in operations aimed at stabilizing the region, which was one of many hotspots in the post-invasion period.
