Their Story
Kamisha Jane Block was born in Vidor, Texas, and joined the U.S. Army, where she served as a Specialist. She was assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, part of the 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Brigade stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
On August 16, 2007, Block was killed in action while serving in Baghdad, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Her death occurred amidst a period of intense conflict, as the operation, which began in March 2003, saw heightened violence in the years following the 2006 al-Askari mosque bombing.
