Their Story

He was assigned to Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, which was part of the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Beisel's deployment took him to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict that began in March 2003 and concluded in August 2010. He served in a particularly volatile period marked by intense combat operations and rising sectarian violence.
