Their Story
Specialist Jonathan Paul Barnes was a dedicated member of the United States Army, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based out of Fort Hood, Texas. He enlisted with a commitment to serve his country and was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom commenced on March 19, 2003, as a U.S.-led effort to depose the government of Saddam Hussein. SPC Barnes's unit was involved in various operations aimed at stabilizing the region following the initial invasion.
