Their Story

Eric Michael Barnes, an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force, was a member of the 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron based at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming. Born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, Barnes joined the Air Force, dedicating himself to serving his country.

Barnes was deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict initiated in March 2003. The operation, led by the United States, aimed to remove the regime of Saddam Hussein and establish a democratic government in Iraq.

On June 10, 2007, near Forward Operating Base Scania in Iraq, A1C Barnes lost his life in a hostile incident. At the age of 20, his life was tragically cut short in the line of duty.

His death is one of many that marked the years of the Iraq conflict, which formally concluded in August 2010. His sacrifice is remembered by his family, friends, and fellow service members who honor his commitment to duty.

A1C Barnes's passing is a reminder of the human cost of conflict, impacting the lives of countless individuals and communities involved.
