Solomon Carias Bangayan, an American Army Specialist from Jay, VT, died on January 2, 2004, in Baghdad, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Their Story
Specialist Solomon Carias Bangayan was a member of the United States Army, serving with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 325th Parachute Infantry Regiment based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Born in Jay, Vermont, Bangayan enlisted in the Army and became part of a unit known for its airborne operations.
Operation Iraqi Freedom began on March 19, 2003, with the United States and coalition forces initiating military actions in Iraq. Bangayan's unit was deployed as part of this conflict, which aimed to dismantle alleged weapons of mass destruction and remove Saddam Hussein from power.
