Their Story

Specialist Solomon Carias Bangayan was a member of the United States Army, serving with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 325th Parachute Infantry Regiment based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Born in Jay, Vermont, Bangayan enlisted in the Army and became part of a unit known for its airborne operations.

Operation Iraqi Freedom began on March 19, 2003, with the United States and coalition forces initiating military actions in Iraq. Bangayan's unit was deployed as part of this conflict, which aimed to dismantle alleged weapons of mass destruction and remove Saddam Hussein from power.

On January 2, 2004, Bangayan lost his life in a hostile incident in Baghdad, Iraq. He was 24 years old at the time of his death, which was recorded in the Defense Casualty Analysis System. His passing is a stark reminder of the human cost associated with military conflicts.
