Their Story
Michael Christopher Balsley was born in Hayward, California, and joined the United States Army where he served as a Specialist in B Co, 3-61 Cavalry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. His unit was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division during his deployment.
As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Balsley was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq. The conflict, which began in March 2003, aimed to topple Saddam Hussein's regime and has seen significant involvement from U.S. forces.
