Technical Sergeant Ryan Andrew Balmer, a member of the United States Air Force, served with Detachment 113, 1st Field Investigations Region, stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. Originally from Mishawaka, Indiana, TSGT Balmer was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On June 5, 2007, TSGT Balmer's life was tragically cut short near Kirkuk Air Base in Iraq. At the age of 33, he became one of the many service members who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict. The Air Force recorded his cause of death as hostile.
