Their Story
Lance Corporal Chad Eric Bales was born and raised in Coahoma, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after completing his high school education, demonstrating a commitment to serve his country. He was assigned to the 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group based at Camp Pendleton, California.
As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which began on March 19, 2003, LCpl Bales was deployed to Iraq. The operation marked a significant military campaign led by the United States, aimed at dismantling Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction capabilities.
Tragically, on April 3, 2003, Chad Eric Bales lost his life in a combat operation east of Ash Shumali, Iraq. He was 20 years old at the time of his passing. His death was officially recorded in the Defense Casualty Analysis System.
