Ryan Travis Baker was born and raised in Browns Mills, New Jersey. He served as a Specialist in the United States Army, attached to Company A, 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, based out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Baker was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a military operation that began in March 2003. His service was characterized by dedication to duty during a tumultuous period of conflict in the region.
