Their Story
CPL Riley Elam Baker, a native of Pacific, Missouri, served with the Marine Corps' H&S Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. At the age of 22, he was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict initiated in March 2003.
During his service, CPL Baker was stationed in Ar Ramadi, a city in the western part of Iraq's Al Anbar province. This region was known for intense combat operations and was a focal point during the conflict.
On June 22, 2006, CPL Baker lost his life due to hostile action in Ar Ramadi. His death was one of the many during a period marked by heightened violence and instability in Iraq.
