Roberto Carlos Baez, a Private First Class in the United States Army, was originally from Tampa, Florida. He was part of Company D, 3rd Battalion, 504th Infantry Regiment, operating under the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Baez's service took him to Iraq, where he became involved in Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict initiated on March 19, 2003. He was deployed to Al Haqlaniyah, a town in the Al Anbar province, which was a focal point of military operations.
On October 4, 2005, Baez was killed in hostile action in Al Haqlaniyah. His death was recorded in the Defense Casualty Analysis System, marking his sacrifice in the ongoing conflict.
