Their Story

David Joseph Babineau was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. He joined the U.S. Army where he served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Babineau deployed to Iraq as part of the U.S. military's Operation Iraqi Freedom, which commenced in March 2003.

On June 16, 2006, Specialist Babineau's life was tragically cut short in Baghdad, Iraq. He was killed in action during hostile engagements, a reality many service members faced in the region's complex conflict. His death was recorded in the Defense Casualty Analysis System on the same day.
