Sergeant Brock Alan Babb, an American Marine from Evansville, Indiana, served with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, based in Terre Haute, Indiana. As a reservist, he was among numerous U.S. military personnel deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Babb's unit was stationed in Fallujah at the time of his death. Fallujah, a city that had seen significant conflict, was a focal point during the Iraq War. It had been the site of intense battles as coalition forces attempted to secure the area.
On October 15, 2006, Babb was killed in action under hostile circumstances. His death in Fallujah added to the list of American servicemen and women who lost their lives in Iraq during the protracted conflict.
