Their Story

Staff Sergeant Travis William Atkins, an American soldier hailing from Bozeman, Montana, served in the United States Army. He was assigned to Company D, 2D Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team stationed at Fort Drum, New York.

Atkins was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a mission that began in March 2003 with the aim of toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. His unit was actively involved in operations around Sadr al-Yusufiyah, a region known for its volatility during the conflict.
