Their Story
Lance Corporal Alexander Scott Arredondo was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving with Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), based at Camp Pendleton, California. Born and raised in Randolph, Massachusetts, Arredondo joined the Marines with a sense of duty and commitment to his country.
Deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Arredondo found himself among the thousands of American troops tasked with maintaining security and stability in the region. The operation, which began in March 2003, saw coalition forces move swiftly to topple the regime, but was followed by a period marked by insurgency and guerrilla warfare, particularly in urban centers like Najaf.
