Lance Corporal Levi Tuddy Angell, born in Cloquet, Minnesota, served his nation with distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Assigned to CSSC-11, CSSB-1, CSSG-11, 1ST FSSG at Camp Pendleton, he was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On April 8, 2004, Angell was engaged in active duty operations near Abu Ghurayb, Iraq. It was during one of these operations that he tragically lost his life due to hostile action. He was among the early casualties of the conflict which started in March 2003.
Operation Iraqi Freedom was a major military campaign aimed at toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. The conflict saw significant U.S. military involvement and resulted in the loss of 4,418 American lives over its duration.
