Their Story

Norman Wallace Anderson III served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Hailing from Parkton, Maryland, he was part of K Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Anderson was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a military operation initiated in March 2003. His unit was actively involved in operations in the Al Anbar Province, a region that saw significant combat activity during the conflict.

On October 19, 2005, Anderson was killed in action in Karabilah, Iraq. The circumstances of his death were recorded as hostile, a term used by the military to denote combat-related incidents.

At the time of his passing, Anderson was 21 years old, a young life ended during a period of intense military engagement. His service and sacrifice are remembered by his family, friends, and fellow Marines.
