Their Story

Cpl. Nathan Richard Anderson was a Marine born in Howard, Ohio. At the age of 22, he was serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On November 12, 2004, Cpl. Anderson was engaged in military operations in Fallujah, Iraq, a city that was a focal point of conflict during the early years of the war. He served with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 7, 1st Marine Division, 2nd Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Operation Iraqi Freedom commenced on March 19, 2003, as a U.S.-led coalition aimed to dismantle weapons of mass destruction and end Saddam Hussein's regime. Fallujah became a crucial battleground in November 2004, when U.S. and coalition forces launched a major offensive to regain control of the city.

During these operations, Cpl. Anderson lost his life due to hostile circumstances. His name was subsequently entered into the Defense Casualty Analysis System, marking the loss of a dedicated Marine.

Cpl. Anderson's death is a somber reminder of the human cost of military conflicts. He is remembered with honor and respect for his service.
