Corporal Michael Dwayne Anderson Jr was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving with K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division, based out of Camp Pendleton, California. Born and raised in Modesto, California, he was known for his commitment and dedication to his unit and country.

Anderson was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict initiated in March 2003. The operation saw numerous American troops stationed in Iraq to stabilize the region and combat insurgency forces following the initial invasion.

On December 14, 2004, Anderson lost his life during a hostile engagement in Fallujah, a city that was the focus of intense combat operations. His death was entered into the Defense Casualty Analysis System on the same day, marking a somber moment for his family and fellow service members.
