Their Story

William Elliott Allmon was a dedicated member of the United States Army, born in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He served with Company E, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

In the midst of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Allmon was stationed in Baghdad, Iraq, where he carried out his duties as a Sergeant. His commitment to his unit and country was evident in his daily operations.

Tragically, on April 12, 2008, Sergeant Allmon lost his life in a hostile incident. His death is counted among the 4,418 American military casualties from the conflict.

Allmon's service in Iraq was part of the broader U.S.-led invasion that commenced on March 19, 2003. The operation aimed to dismantle weapons of mass destruction and end Saddam Hussein's regime.

His passing is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by service members during the conflict, which officially concluded in August 2010.
