Their Story
Terrence Patrick Allen, a corporal in the United States Marine Corps, was part of the Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Born in Pennsauken, New Jersey, Allen was among the numerous American service members deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Operation Iraqi Freedom commenced in March 2003, with the objective of toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. By the time Allen was deployed, the conflict had escalated, with 2005 to 2007 being some of the deadliest years due to increased sectarian violence.
On September 15, 2007, Corporal Allen lost his life during combat operations in Al Asad, Iraq. The Department of Defense confirmed his death, marking another loss in a conflict that claimed thousands of lives.
Allen's service is a reminder of the personal costs faced by those in uniform and their families. His passing is mourned by his loved ones and acknowledged with respect for his dedication as a Marine.
