Their Story
Private First Class Jacob Hamilton Allcott served in Company B, 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Hood, Texas. Born and raised in Caldwell, Idaho, Allcott was deployed as part of the United States military efforts in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On April 22, 2006, at the age of 21, PFC Allcott lost his life in Baghdad, Iraq. The U.S. Army officially recorded his death as hostile, a term indicating combat-related circumstances. His passing was part of the broader conflict that began in March 2003 with the invasion of Iraq by a U.S.-led coalition.
Operation Iraqi Freedom was initiated under the stated goal of eliminating weapons of mass destruction, a claim that later faced significant scrutiny. Allcott's unit, as part of the 4th Infantry Division, was engaged in ongoing operations aimed at stabilizing the region amidst escalating violence.
