Akintade, Segun Frederick

Segun Frederick Akintade served with the National Guard in the U.S. Army's A Company, 3rd Battalion, 108th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division. He hailed from Brooklyn, New York, and was stationed in Whitehall, New York. As a Specialist, he was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a mission that began in March 2003 and aimed to establish a stable and democratic Iraq. His deployment was during a period marked by increasing insurgency and violence.

On October 28, 2004, Akintade's life was tragically cut short in Abd Allah, Iraq. According to military reports, his death was the result of hostile action. His passing is a solemn reminder of the dangers faced by those serving in conflict zones and the unpredictability of warfare.

The operation he participated in was characterized by challenging ground conditions and evolving threats. Despite the adversities, Akintade performed his duties with dedication and professionalism, attributes recognized by his fellow service members and superiors.
