Jeramy Alan Ailes, 22, a U.S. Marine from Gilroy, CA, died in Fallujah, Iraq, on November 15, 2004, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Their Story

Lance Corporal Jeramy Alan Ailes, a dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps, served with distinction in K Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, Regimental Combat Team 1, 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, California. A native of Gilroy, California, Ailes was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a military conflict initiated in March 2003.

On November 15, 2004, Ailes was fatally wounded in Fallujah, Iraq, during a period of intense combat operations aimed at regaining control of the city from insurgent forces. Fallujah had become a focal point of resistance following the initial phase of the U.S. military operation.

Operation Iraqi Freedom was marked by a swift initial military victory; however, it soon gave way to a prolonged insurgency that posed significant challenges to coalition forces. The conflict saw numerous battles, including the Second Battle of Fallujah in November 2004, where Ailes and many others faced considerable danger.

The loss of Jeramy Ailes is a reminder of the human cost of conflict. He is remembered by his family, fellow Marines, and his community for his service and sacrifice. His name is honored in the Defense Casualty Analysis System, which records the names of those who have died in service to their country.
