Their Story
Lance Corporal Patrick Ryan Adle, a native of Bel Air, Maryland, was serving with Detachment 3, Engineer Support Company, 6th Engineer Support Battalion, under the I Marine Expeditionary Force, 4th Force Service Support Group, based in Folsom, Pennsylvania. He was part of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and had committed to supporting his unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
On June 29, 2004, Adle's life was tragically cut short in a hostile incident at Camp Cuervo, Iraq. He was among the numerous military personnel deployed during the early years of the U.S.-led invasion, which aimed to topple the regime of Saddam Hussein and stabilize the country.
Adle's death marked a somber day for his family and community, as well as the larger military family. He was one of the 4,418 American service members who lost their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom, a conflict characterized by intense and complex challenges.
