Adams, Mark Phillip

Mark Phillip Adams, a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, was a member of the II Marine Expeditionary Force, Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 8, 2nd Marine Division. Hailing from Morrisville, North Carolina, Sgt. Adams was stationed at Camp Lejeune prior to his deployment to Iraq.

Operation Iraqi Freedom, initiated on March 19, 2003, was part of a broader U.S.-led effort to remove the regime of Saddam Hussein. As part of this operation, Sgt. Adams and his unit were deployed to Saqlawiyah, a town in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.

On October 15, 2005, Sgt. Adams lost his life due to hostile action in Saqlawiyah. His passing was marked by his commitment to his role and his country, as he served in a conflict that had profound impacts on both Iraq and the United States.

His death is a reminder of the human cost of military operations. Sgt. Adams was 24 years old at the time of his passing, leaving behind family, friends, and fellow Marines who remember his service and sacrifice.
