James Lee Adair was a Specialist in the United States Army, serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Riley, Kansas. Hailing from Carthage, Texas, SPC Adair was deployed to Iraq during a critical period of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Operation Iraqi Freedom commenced on March 19, 2003, marking the beginning of a U.S.-led invasion aimed at toppling the regime of Saddam Hussein. SPC Adair's unit was stationed in one of the most volatile areas, tasked with maintaining security and supporting rebuilding efforts in Baghdad.

On June 29, 2007, SPC Adair's life was tragically cut short in Baghdad. The Army documented his death as a result of hostile action, a stark reminder of the dangers faced by soldiers in conflict zones.
