Michael Dewayne Acklin II, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, served with dedication as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of Battery C, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, stationed out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Acklin was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a military campaign initiated in March 2003. The operation aimed to overthrow the regime in Iraq and stabilize the region.
