Young, Ricardo Deandrell

Ricardo Deandrell Young served in the United States Army as part of the 738th Engineer Support Company, 307th Engineer Battalion (C) (A), 20th Engineer Brigade based at Fort Bragg, NC. Born in Rosston, Arkansas, Young was deployed to several international locations during his military career, including Afghanistan.

On August 28, 2013, Young lost his life in Petawak, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was 34 years old at the time of his death. The conflict, which began in October 2001, was part of a broader effort to dismantle terrorist organizations operating in the region.

Young's service took him beyond Afghanistan, reportedly including deployments to the Philippines and the Horn of Africa. These regions were part of the U.S. military's strategic efforts to combat terrorism and stabilize conflict-prone areas.

The death of Young was marked by a deep sense of loss among those who knew him, as well as his fellow servicemen. His commitment to his duties and his country is remembered by his community and the broader military family.
