Specialist Clarence Williams III was born and raised in Brooksville, Florida. At the age of 23, he served as a member of the 978th Military Police Company, 93rd Military Police Battalion, 89th MP Brigade, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.
During his deployment in Afghanistan, Williams was part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a conflict initiated in October 2001 in response to the September 11 attacks. The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent future attacks. It continued until December 2014.
On July 8, 2012, Specialist Williams lost his life in Maidan Shahr, Afghanistan. The Department of Defense confirmed that his death was due to hostile action.
