Their Story

Ronald Herbert Wildrick Jr, known as SPC Wildrick, was an American soldier serving with the Army's Company A, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. His service took him to various locations, including Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.

On December 11, 2011, SPC Wildrick lost his life in the Khas Kunar District of Afghanistan due to hostile circumstances. The Khas Kunar District, situated in eastern Afghanistan, has been a site of numerous military engagements during the conflict.

Wildrick was part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a military operation initiated by the United States on October 7, 2001, aimed at dismantling terrorist organizations and preventing them from using Afghanistan as a base of operations.

Operation Enduring Freedom officially concluded on December 28, 2014, marking the end of a significant chapter in U.S. military history. SPC Wildrick's death is a reminder of the many lives affected during the course of this conflict.
