Their Story

Lance Corporal Russell Patrick White was a young Marine from Dagsboro, Delaware. At the age of 19, he was serving with the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

He was deployed as part of the U.S. military's Operation Enduring Freedom, a campaign initiated on October 7, 2001, in response to the September 11 attacks. White was among the many service members sent to regions including Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.

On June 20, 2004, White's life was tragically cut short in Bagram, Afghanistan, where he was killed in action. His death was recorded by the Marine Corps, marking a somber moment in a conflict that sought to address global terrorism.

White's service and sacrifice are remembered with respect, acknowledging the deep sense of loss felt by those who knew him. His commitment to his duties reflects the challenges faced by many young soldiers in conflict zones.
